Can we schedule a consultation with Diahann?
Yes, consultations can be scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during our regular business hours. Early evening appointments are available at 4:30 and 5:15 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Can we schedule a weekend appointment?
Due to our decorating and delivery schedule, weekend appointments are very limited. Saturday morning appointments are only available. Our bakery is closed on Sunday, so we do not schedule consultations then.
Have you ever created a cupcake-style cake for your brides?
Yes, we have designed several cupcake-style cakes.
Are cupcakes a more cost-effective option?
Cupcakes may be a more cost-effective option depending on the style and customization per cupcake. Standard cupcakes start at $24.00 per dozen, but can exceed $45.00 per dozen depending on the level of customization desired.
What is the average price per slice of cake?
The starting price for a tiered wedding cake is between $6.50 and $7.50 per slice. The price per slice of cake is very similar to what you would pay for dessert when dining at a restaurant.
Can I save money by having a cake with fake layers and serving sheet cakes?
While this method would seem to be more cost-effective, it actually isn’t. The fake layers still need to be designed and decorated, resulting in a savings of only a few dollars compared to just buying a traditional wedding cake.
We have a very tight budget. What are some options for having a nice cake while keeping within our budget?
Opt for a small three-tiered cake for you to cut, then serve sheet cakes instead. We welcome all budgets.
Should we bring pictures of cakes, color swatches, and themes we are planning for our wedding to our consultation?
Yes! The more information you bring along, the better. This will allow Diahann to have a better sense of the style you wish to achieve for your wedding.
We have watched the Food Network and seen many three-dimensional cakes being designed. Is this something you can do?
Three-dimensional cakes can be done to some extent. Diahann and the cake designers have done several three-dimensional cakes in the past. There is a significant amount of time involved in designing and executing a three-dimensional cake. These cakes typically start around $800.00 and require an in-person design consultation. We need at least 6 weeks of working time before your event to design and execute your 3D cake.
Can Diahann sketch a few designs for us?
Sketches are available for couples who book with us. Booking couples will receive one sketch of their cake (if requested). Additional sketches are available for $50.00 per sketch.
What is the best method of communication to reach Diahann?
You may email or call her. Since much of Diahann’s day is dedicated to decorating and working on orders, she does not spend a lot of time checking her email. Emails are checked daily and you should expect a response within 48 hours during normal business hours.
Is there a delivery and setup fee?
There is a delivery and setup fee of $65.00 within a 20-mile radius.
What is the nonrefundable retainer to reserve Byers Butterflake Bakery for our wedding day?
A nonrefundable retainer of 50% is required to hold your date.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Visa, and MasterCard.
When is the final balance due?
The final balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding date.
